What is it all about in Diary of Dreams' music? ”I believe Diary of Dreams to be very authentic, strong, emotional and personal. Every member of the band and of course especially I live for this project. We do what we do from the bottom of our hearts, with full belief and dedication!” Adrian Hates, the lead singer and founder of DoD tells. Hates himself believes that not every song is easily accessible for everyone. He says that the band tries to work hard to improve and reach out further into the horizon of musical possibilities. ”The music may be strange, dark and even mystical at times, but there is always this spark of hope that you can sense. Nothing you hear happened per coincidence”, Hates reminds. Many musicians have long lists of their influences. Hates sees things in a different light. ”The main motivation for me to start making music was to be able to give a voice to my emotions. I desperately needed a way to express what i felt and still do. It is like a therapy to me.” ”The motivation was not to sound like some band that I liked, but to get the thoughts, dreams, hopes and fears that were stuck inside of me creatively digested”, Hates sums up. Diary of Dreams have been touring for nearly 20 years in 36 different countries but what is the most memorable story from the road? ”The one story that pops up in my mind this very moment though is an amazing dinner in an ancient part of Tel Aviv, Israel. Nothing spectacular happened, but I remember how scared the owners of the restaurant looked when we entered and how relaxed and friendly the evening ended. That dinner was one of the best I had in my life. The evening was simply amazing and the walk back home along the beach is still as colourful in my memory as if it was yesterday”, Hates says. Because the band has been playing only once in Finland, the forthcoming gig in Graveyard Party, Helsinki, means a lot. ”It is a shame that we do not get to play very often in Finland. That is why we all are very happy to come back now to enjoy a wonderful evening together. Finland is a beautiful country and even though I will probably not get to see much this time i yet will enjoy every moment. We look forward to it very much!” Last but not least Hates wants to send greetings from the whole band to the Finnish fans. ”Thank you all so much for your loving support and belief in our work! We appreciate that very much and that is not something we just say, it is something we mean! Thank YOU!” << Back |
